I've seen several requests on how to level, so I'm going to post my method. It took me a few hours to get a level 14 Shawn, and only a few more to get at least level 11 for all of the other characters, so you can do this in 1 day.

I found this easiest with versus mode. Even doing stage 6 on easy mode over and over took forever compared to this method (difficulty makes no difference on how fast you level-experience is gained on enemy level only).

1. Pick Shawn, and put 11 Drews in the other team:
[attachment=60]
Drew is melee only so he is the easiest to kill.

2. Choose game settings.
Choose a big map like Fortress Hill as you need space. Use easy difficulty-killing on normal, hard or crazy gives no extra experience. Normalise level-you want the enemies the same level as you for maximum exp. These statements are wrong. Remove dinosaurs, giant objects and rides as they are distracting. Start fight!
[attachment=61]

3. Move to the top of the map and away from the Drews. Fire a Phoenix Shot when they are all aligned at the top. You can do 2 or 3 right at the start:
[attachment=62]

4. Let the Drews beat you up to low health. Your mana recovers much faster like at low hp, allowing you to kill faster!
[attachment=63]

5. Move down to the bottom of the screen, and then away from the Drews (move right). Running jumps are very good for clearance. Fire Phoenix Shots as you run to the right side of the map, when the Drews are aligned at the bottom. With full hp, you will only have enough mana for 2 Phoenix Shots before you reach the end. With low hp, you can fire 4, or even 5!
[attachment=64]

6. Move to the top of the screen, and just keep repeating this cycle until the Drews are dead. Don't die, and kill them all! Keep doing this battle quickly, and you will level fast.
[attachment=70]

7. Now that you have a level 14 Shawn, you can use the other characters to kill him, for fast exp. Another advantage of using Shawn to kill the Drews is that he is an easy AI to kill in 1v1. Set up 1v1 in versus mode with any character and Shawn as your enemy:
[attachment=66]

8. Use the same settings as before, except: choose Small Hut, as this is the smallest map, and perfect for killing Shawn. Do NOT Normalize Level, as you want e.g. level 5 Giggs vs level 14 Shawn. When you kill him, you will get massive exp!
[attachment=67]

9. Beat up Shawn in the corner. Even with big level differences, it's hard to even get hit once by the AI Shawn:
[attachment=68]

10. Win and get exp! Notice I only got 39 exp with Giggs, but he was level 11. With lower level characters, you will get hundreds at a time. Even at level 10, you get about 50 at a time (and at level 10, you kill level 14 Shawn much faster-it only takes seconds!)
[attachment=69]

11. Once at level 11, levelling against a level 14 Shawn becomes a lot slower (even though you are killing him faster than before). With some characters, you can continue on to level 14 by killing 11 Drews on easy difficulty (remember to turn Normalize Level back on!):

[attachment=75]

12. Even at level 12, you can get over 100 experience per fight, and each fight only takes around a minute:
[attachment=74]

You can use 11 Giggs as well, but he moves faster, especially with Whirlstick, but it's still possible:
[attachment=76]

Using Jason: keep using boomerangs. Jason is one of the easiest characters to get to level 14.

Using Lucas: keep jumping backwards and using Aerial Air Blades. Alternatively, save your mana and use it all up at once on ground Air Blades. Keep your distance so the enemies are less likely to block.

Using Taylor: keep running away while using Lasers. Taylor runs out of stamina easily. NEVER use a normal jump-always run, and then jump. Normal jumps don't make you move any faster, and they drain your stamina-this is very important for grinding as Taylor.

Using Sinan: the fastest way to kill the Drews is to use only Hexagram Curse, and use a normal jump attack to hit as many as you can while they are floating in the air. You MUST jump DIAGONALLY to avoid being attacked by the Drews that didn't get hit by the curse. This can take some practice. If this is too hard, or you start running low on health, go back to mixing up Hexagram Curses and Ground Blasters.

Using Gordon: keep using "aerial" Power Blows, while jumping backwards. Like most other moves after the patch, it now has a limit to how many enemies it can hit, so levelling as Gordon requires good judgement.

Drew, Jenny, Giggs and Titto: forget it, just keep fighting level 14 Shawn forever...

Although it can get boring, this is the fastest way to level. By contrast, you could spend DAYS doing stage 6 over and over to get the same result. I've also seen other people mentioning the use of the foot soldiers etc., but after the last patch, many moves have a limit to how many enemies it can hit (yes, I've seen the screenshot of Sinan getting 4000 exp!). I think Hexagram Curse can hit no more than 10 enemies at a time now, unless they were standing right beside you when you cast the spell.

Happy levelling!
Using Jenny, keep running away while using Energy Drills. It's harder than others chars, but with patience you'll get it! You can start against 5 or 6 Drews. When Jenny reachs a high level, you can increase the number of enemies.

I took the liberty, cause this is an use to such lazy players as me =P...
Thanks for referring to my post.
Good guide here. I'll use some of these trick when the next version comes online.

EDIT: Quick Edit double Posted or something.

P.S. LF2HF I see you still can't use Drew.
Thanks for the inspiration Hukko! It's really difficult to take on 11 Drews, but I finally perfected the method. Ground Energy Drills are the way to go, and the distancing between Jenny and the Drews has to be perfect. Like with Taylor, stamina is an issue, and only running jumps should be used-no normal jumps or normal running. Pressing attack at the end of the jump lets you move slightly further, without using more stamina. And 3 fails=death, so you can't take any risks like deliberately getting beaten up to low hp with Shawn for faster mana regeneration.

Finally managed to get level 14 with Jenny:

Definitely the hardest of the lot.

I don't know what you meant about it being easier when Jenny levels up, as the enemies are the same level as you if you turn on "Normalize Level", which you need for the experience gain, so they never get easier.

Not sure if you are just trolling LittleFighterFox, but I'd like to see you defeat 11 characters of your choice using Drew, using Normalize Level.

7 level 14 characters now-and now to find the fastest way to level Drew, Giggs and Titto...
I did not read through the whole post, though, I guess you missed one point that is very important to avoid any damage.

If the opponents are really close to you and I mean really close, then dash diagonally and walk upwards. With that you will spare your stamina and it will reload quite fast. The strategy is just that you drag the attention of the coms to the bottom of the screen horizontally first then to the top of the screen, also horizontally. In other words, you let them come near you energy drill them, then dash diagonally (up or down, it depends where you are), walk upwards or downwards, dash again, let them come near you and then to the other direction and screenhalf, so on.

I hope it helps.

I ain't trolling, don't get mad. It's just this and the other post (That story mode one) both say not to use Drew.

I just noticed now, but stamina recovers a lot faster then I previously thought.
I've been trying different combinations for Titto and Drew, and strangely enough, I found that the fastest way was to fight 3 Jennys over and over. More than 3, and it becomes too hard or too slow. For Titto and Drew only, Jenny seems to be the easiest AI to kill when fighting more than 1. At level 13, it's perfectly safe to turn off Normalize Level (now fighting level 14 Jennys) and I got about 25 exp each time.

For Titto, the best method is to use a running jump attack, and casting barrier bash very quickly while you are still in the air. If you do this correctly, it will cast instantly when you land, resulting in a mini combo which works very well. You can even do multiple barrier bashes very quickly. Jump to a safe place, and keep repeating. Get your timings right and you won't ever get hit by the energy drills.

Drew is a lot easier-use either mach punches or running jump kicks+melee attacks (only if you manage to running jump kick all 3 of them). Again, timing has to be perfect-if you mach punch too late, you will eat energy drills. Too early and you won't hit them. Attack diagonally and the AI will be less likely to attack you (useful if the Jennys are spread out).

I haven't found a faster way to level Giggs-at level 12, killing a level 14 Shawn gives about 30 exp at a time (which is fast considering that doesn't take long to kill Shawn at this level), but at level 13 it becomes less than 10 exp at a time, which is just painful. To be honest, I don't think it's worth levelling Giggs to level 14...

There's a error in this guide you need to fix. EXP is based on Lvl & difficulty. Difficulty does play a part in gaining more exp.
It's always been like that. I'm not sure how you didn't notice the extra exp you gain.
Thanks for this, really useful, I'm really starting to enjoy this game :D
A small problem though, I got Shawn to level 8 but Normalize Level doesn't seem to be working? The 11 Drews still appear to be level 1, and the XP I'm getting each fight keeps decreasing? I'm getting less than 50 xp now. Is this supposed to happen or is something wrong? Thanks
