Hey people. Your opinion is wanted regarding the stamina bar (white bar) in Hero Fighter. It's the bar that determines whether you can run/jump/dash during gameplay. Please vote, and reasons/comments are welcome.
Azriel~
Well when i first played it, it was a bit of a obstacle that gives me a beating. Now ive learned how to conserve it.
if you out of stamina: walk & gaurd to defend your and recover Stamina.
try rolling to over distance while saving Stamina.
Jump less often (this is the reason it goes down so much, only jump when you need too.)
rolling away from attacks help conserve you stamina when you need it to run,(Shawn's best bet.)
Shawn's Back Dash after an arrow shot gives him a huge distance boost.
it covers more ground than his running distance using less stamina.
Drew didnt need it since most of his move do the running for him. ;D lol
it's bad when it goes down...but when you think about how jumping is in this game, i think it actually does fight.
Consider it Little Fighter 1's resurrection of their stamina bar
i say it fits since it doesnt affect mucn anymore since i use more rolling now.
Vote: it's good, Shawn would too hard to hit if he was a human player. Network battles coming so i dont think it needs to be changed.
MP cost is the one that need changing. Shawn as the proper cost of them. Lucas is too high, Drew is too low.^^
got the same opinion as nirvana (or however i should call you

).. it just makes fighting more interesting

if i would be marti, i wouldn't worry about the stamina more on the mp costs and moves
hope he adjusts it like nirvana already mentioned. Lucas has cleary too less moves, shawn is also missing one and well drew has them

I agree with Neron there. I think the stamina value is just right, that's one.
Secondly, in HF, in addition to a much longer time to prepare to jump or dash, the stamina bar also inhibits players from trying to use hit-and-run methods (such as running away, then suddenly turning around and dash attack like in LF2) or constantly escaping. It also limits the number of times you can break out of a fall (it actually costs a little bit of stamina), so you have to try not to get hit while constantly attacking your opponent.
The stamina system works against Shawn, but given the fact that Shawn's long range can be really spammy and damaging, it would balance things up.
Drew's berserker charge (D>J) makes him have essentially double or even triple the stamina though, because it costs only mana (albeit very low) instead of stamina and he actually runs faster while charging.
Horses have the advantage of unlimited stamina, which is good since horses are meant for swift movement and travelling over large distances, but they are slow to turn around and those atop a horse are actually more vulnerable to attack at close range than if they are on the ground as a result.
Looking from the 1v1 side:
The Stamina bar is great, mainly because most of the maps are big, which without the stamina bar would suck, because u could run all the time, so that your health goes up, but long range characters should have a longer stamina bar, because they can't really fights in close range, but it isn't really neccesary because of the horses.
In big fights:
The stamina bar is kinda annoying in big fights ( for example with troops ) u can't really escape from death when your in the middle of a big fight, or jumping into the big fights, which you normally could (at for example lf2)
Vote for now:
The game is still small, so i don't know how it will turn out eventually, but for now yes.
Apparently in big fights, you're supposed to let your troops kill each other, while you stay somewhere at the back with a heavy weapon, or if you're Shawn, you can start spamming D^A and arrows.
@STM1993
But what's the point of that ?
You're not fighting with them, imo it kills the fun.
But lets stay on topic.
(copied this from what i sent Marti)
It has shown me great potential and essential use of how Stamina affects your Offensive & Defensive skills.
High Stamina allows you to attack with amazing movement, dashes, and combos while keeping opponents on the run.
Low Stamina means you have to be more defense as dashes be least affective (meaning people who just fight too agressive will be punished by stamina fatigue.)
Hero Fighter seems to balance out Offense and Defense methods perfectly, you will always rely on both, no matter who your fighting.
Elite fighter or even a beginner.
I just love how it creates such tension in battles.
It brings many player fighting styles to Hero fighter and i think it shouldnt be changed.

Shawn isnt meant to be a close range fighter.
putting him in a group of fighters is suicide. if you seen my videos, those tactic would lead to getting owned.
if there are troop battles, he should be support as
I agree totally 100% with Nirvana on the Stamina bar and the cost of mana. I mean c'mon, three little energy slashes and my mana is gone!

@Nirvana:Shawn is actually good in group fights. What i've seen is Drews getting owned. I did a three teams, one with only Lucases, another only Drews and the other with Shawns, and Drews quickly covered the floor completely. I'll make a vid as soon as I can get CamStudio working.
In my opinion, the jump don't need stamina, because if you are without stamina, you can jump.
